Four Skincare Products That Changed My Skin
Hello again friends, I hope you’re staying safe and healthy out there.
I hope you’ve voted! If you haven’t, what’s your plan? We still have time, but not much of it.
Today we are talking skincare. I love a good skincare moment because skincare is self care.
In the past two to three months, I've picked up a few new products that I now use every. single. day.
On the rare days that I don’t use some of these products, I can feel a difference in the texture of my skin.
Just as a little background info I have normal to dry skin due to having eczema. I used to think that I had sensitive skin, but I don’t actually think it’s that sensitive. Although I’m going to be talking about four products today, these are not the only products in my routine. The others aren’t included because I either have rotated them within the last couple months or I don’t think they are game changers. We can’t all be the lead role, ya know? And that’s okay.
With that being said, let’s get into the four products that changed my skin!
So first up, we have a very simple cleanser. This is the Cera Ve Foaming Cleanser. My younger brother, Austin, is a Cera Ve slut ~ way before it became popular on Tik Tok. He’s {& our Dermatologist are} my OG Hyram.
In the morning, I used to wash my face with water only since my skin can get a little dry. But ever since we had to wear masks everywhere we go, I started cleansing in the morning as well and that really helped prevent mask-ne.
In the shower at night, I double cleanse. First using a makeup removing balm and then using this Foaming Cleanser with my Clarasonic to gently but effectively cleanse my face and prep it for the skincare that follows.
Next I want to talk about the Paula’s Choice Vitamin C Booster. You can add this liquid to your favorite moisturizer or serum, but I use it alone and just pat it into my skin. This Vitamin C has really helped brighten my skin and help with discoloration. I’ve only used this for the past few months so I’m excited to see the difference it’ll make as I continue to use it!
A huge part about using Vitamin C is applying a sunscreen. If you’re not going to wear sunscreen, you may as well not use a Vitamin C ~ it’s that serious. But we’ll get to sunscreen a little later.
For now let’s talk about one of my true skincare heros: Niacinamide.
My skin cannot live without this product. My niacinamide serum has drastically helped in improving the texture of my skin. I can tell because when I wash my face, everything feels so much smoother as well as my makeup sitting so much more evenly on my skin.
I always have a back up of this serum because this often sells out due to how effective it is as well as it’s price point.
Please note though, this serum may sting a bit and that’s normal. But pay attention to normal stinging versus an allergic reaction. I would also avoid any open cuts or wounds as this will sting super badly… I’m speaking from experience here.
Lastly but definitely not least ~ if anything, it’s the most important: SUNSCREEN.
So if you know my younger brother {the same previously mentioned Cera Ve slut}, he’s also a slut for sunscreen… like big time lol I owe so much of my skincare success to him, thanks aus <3
He put me onto {and even bought for me and our mom} this sunscreen. I told him I wanted something effective but lightweight, something that could sit well under makeup and also not make me look like a ghost. Boy, oh, boy did he come through.
I’m still on my first bottle of this sunscreen {it’s lasted me over two months even though I use the two finger application method ~ I’ll explain} but I definitely have a back up for when I do run out!
So back to the two finger application method, i’m not sure where I heard of this or who coined this term. But apparently, the amount of sunscreen you’re supposed to use is two fingers worth.
Basically, you pump or squeeze out your sunscreen to make a line on two of your fingers and that’s how much you’re supposed to use for your face and neck. But whether you want to use more or less is your business.
I apply sunscreen every single day, even if I know I’ll be staying in all day. You don’t need to be in direct sunlight for your skin to be negatively affected by the damaging UV rays.
These four products have really helped improve my skin’s overall texture, discoloration, and brightness.
Again, these aren’t the only products in my routine. I use a makeup removing balm, a BHA as well as a moisturizer in addition to these four products.
I just started using a retinol so I’ll keep you posted on if that becomes a must have product!
But that is all that I have for you today. I hope you enjoyed and learned something! If you pick any of these products up or if you already use them, tell me in the comments below!
Sending you all the light + love ♡
