HAPPY ALOHA FRIDAY <3
Today I’ve got a highly requested one for ya. Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask. Boom.
For those who follow me on Instagram ( if ya don’t… um hello? hi! @lovebylaur 😉 ) you’d know that I purchased this when it first came out….awhile ago. I wanted to give you a genuine and actually helpful review. That means using it for a while instead of just using it twice and saying “it’s AMAZING. Run out and get it NOW!” without really knowing how my skin likes it.
Anyways! Now that’s out-of-the-way, shall we get into the tea? yes.
First impressions? Meh. It’s not bad.
Current impression? YES. GIVE IT TO ME.
The difference between the two? I’m an idiot. *rolls eyes* Totes didn’t read the instructions.
First of all, I didn’t apply a “visible layer”.
Second of all, I RINSED IT.
I cannot with myself. Don’t be like me and please actually read the instructions!
So once I read the instructions and put a visible layer on the skin, I found that my skin drank this up helllllla quick. Like damn girl, you thirsty af! *sips tea
Because of my eczema, I sometimes get rough textured skin around my jaw line and around my mouth. Not cute. I wanted to try this mask on those areas that really needed hydration but were also pretty sensitive. I found that using this Jet Lag mask for a few days in a row really helped the texture go away and made my foundation sit on my skin way better. The plus? It didn’t break me out nor did it make my eczema flare up. Praise God!
The Vitamin C really helps to brighten the skin and boost hydration (totes agree). I also found that the chestnut extract in this mask really helps with the skins natural exfoliation process which results it new, fresher, smoother skin aka the reason my dry, textured areas pretty much disappeared after using this mask!
The fact that this product is vegan, sulfate and paraben free, with no synthetic dyes or fragrances probably is what helps my skin not freak out from it. On top of all of that, it’s also made in the U.S and is cruelty free! Yay animals!
So besides using this Jet Lag mask as a ten minute pick me up where you dab the excess off, you can also use this product as a foundation primer to prep your skin for makeup.
For THIS part, I put a very small amount and NOT a visible layer on the skin. I used a foundation that was one of my tried and true foundations and kept everything else in my routine the same to ensure that any differences in the way my makeup sat was due to this “primer”.
I’ve got to say, it worked pretty damn well as a hydrating foundation primer. I didn’t notice that my makeup lasted any longer than it usually does, but it definitely kept my skin looking fresh and hydrated all. day. long! It didn’t make my foundation break up or slide around which I was a little afraid it would do considering it’s so hydrating and technically a face mask.
As you know by now, my skin is more on the drier side, so I can’t speak to whether this mask/primer works well under makeup for those who have combo/oily skin.
(if you have oilier skin and have tried this mask, tell us in the comments if you love it!)
All I can say is that for my normal to dry skin, it works well as a hydrating primer!
I personally love the packaging. The color. The fonts. The tube. It gives me life!
For $48 I feel like you get a good amount of product ( 2.25 fl oz ), Instagram-able packaging, an amazing face mask, and a hydrating foundation primer.
This Jet Lag mask is currently only available online from the Summer Fridays site or Sephora Online. But I definitely would recommend giving this mask a try if you have skin that needs some hydration and brightening! Thank me later!
All in all, I do really enjoy the Summer Fridays Jet Lag mask. You can tell that Marianna and Lauren (the creators) really put a lot of time, effort, and love into a product that’s versatile, has pretty packaging and contains good quality ingredients.
Let me know in the comments or on Instagram if you’ve tried this mask or plan on picking it up and what you think of it!
That’s all I’ve got for you babes for this Friday.
